Greta Amos



Amos, Greta Hardy (Wall) 
Passed away peacefully at the Twin Oaks Nursing Home in Maryhill, Ontario in the early morning of June 12, 2014. Born May 12th, 1928 in New Glasgow, N.S. to parents Ralph and Janet Wall, Greta is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 53 years Donald Amos, son John and wife Linda along with their children Elizabeth and Jackson of Mississauga, and daughter Carolyn and husband Bill Waind and their children Graham and Colin of Kirkwall, Ontario. She is also survived by her sister Carolyn Mac Quarrrie of Pictou, N.S. and 15 nieces and nephews.
Greta will be remembered by many friends and acquaintances for her kind and caring spirit. Greta was a wife, a mother, a teacher, a curler, a bridge player, a volunteer, a crafter, a traveller and above all, a friend to so many.
Family and friends will be received at the Memory Gardens Reception Centre 2723 Victoria St. N. (Breslau) ON Monday June 23rd, 2014 for funeral services at 2:00 p.m. Visitation and a reception will be held immediately following the service. Ian Ballantyne Update

BALLANTYNE, Ian Richardson (LCol, ret'd) Ian died peacefully in Ottawa, with family by his side, on November 20, 2010, in his 80th year. The son of Harold and Hilda Ballantyne, Ian grew up in Kitchener, graduated from Royal Military College and Queen's University, and then pursued a military career. He retired to Calabogie, Ontario. He is predeceased by his daughter Patricia, his parents, and his brother Jim. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughters; Peigi Dumouchel (Bryan), Sandra Ballantyne (Ibrahim Daibes), Nora Ballantyne (Chris Savage) and their mother Mary Ballantyne (nee Troup). Proud Papa to Meaghan, Gerry, Cole, Khalil, Rowan, Danna and Mara. He will be greatly missed by his Calabogie friends. A service to celebrate Ian's life will be held at the Pinecrest Remembrance Chapel, 2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa, on Monday, November 29, at 2 p.m. with reception to follow.

Robert Bish

 BISH, Robert Paul C.A. Died on July 27, 2010 at Lisaard House in Cambridge after a short illness, at the age of 79. Loved and loving husband of Mary with whom he shared 57 years of marriage. Will be fondly remembered by his children, Peter of Toronto, Tom and his wife Deborah Lasher of Metuchen N.J. and Jim of Toronto; proud grandfather of Hannah and Daniel Bish of Metuchen N.J. Also survived by brother, William Bish and his wife Ruth of Kitchener; sister, Rosemary Plummer of Waterloo, and eight nieces and nephews. Born June 9, 1931 and raised in Kitchener, he received his C.A. designation in 1954. He spent several years working for General Foods in Cambridge (Preston), ON, Kentville, N.S. and Battle Creek, MI and then returned to public accounting in 1965 in the Kitchener office of a predecessor firm KPMG, becoming a managing partner of the Cambridge office in 1969. After his early retirement in 1979 he began a second career teaching accounting at WLU School of Business and U of W School of Accountancy. Bob was a King's Scout (11th Kitchener), and the inaugural leader of the 26th Kitchener Cub Pack. He was an original member of Waterloo- Wellington CA Association, and served as president. He served as a director of Parkwood Manor Home for Seniors, and director and president of Interfaith Pastoral Counselling Centre. He was named a life director of United Way, having served that organization in many capacities. He was a director and treasurer of Labour Community Services, a director of K-W Counselling Services, and a director and treasurer of Third Age of K-W. Bob's lifelong interest in people and places led him down many paths. He and Mary travelled widely both locally and internationally over their many years as birders. They spent many happy years as Scottish Country Dancers. Bob was a true nature lover and spent many hours in all seasons exploring Ontario's geological features, rivers, waterfalls and forests both by himself, with his boys and with friends from his scouting days. Bob will be remembered by friends, family and associates for the values he quietly embodied. Above all, his life was characterized by love of his wife and family. Cremation has taken place; interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Waterloo. Friends may meet with the family at Erb & Good Family Funeral Home , 171 King St. S., Waterloo, at an informal gathering to remember Bob's life on Saturday, July 31, 2010 from 1:30-4 p.m., with words of remembrance at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to K-W Counselling Services, United Way of K-W or Lisaard House may be arranged through the funeral home at 519-745-8445 or www.erbgood.com Special thanks to Dr. Elaine Bouttell and Anita Riddell at Grand River Regional Cancer Centre, and the staff at Lisaard House. Buchanan, Gilbert Laurence (Laurie) Peacefully at Headwaters Health Care Centre on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at the age of 89. Beloved husband of the late Heidi Buchanan (2015). Dear father of Heidi Ann (Peter Bishop) and Duncan Fraser. Cherished grandfather of Cameron Laurence (Sara) and Amy Elizabeth. Great-grandfather of Noah Christopher Bishop. Laurie will also be greatly missed by other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held at the Dods & McNair Funeral Home, Chapel & Reception Centre, 21 First St., Orangeville on Friday, January 24, 2020 from 2:00 - 4:00 & 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at St. Mark's Anglican Church, 5 First Ave., Orangeville, on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations to St. Mark's Anglican Church, Parkinson Canada or Bruce Trail Club Conservancy would be appreciated by the family.Thank you to Dr. Mauro and the staff of D-Wing at Headwaters Health Care Centre for all your care and compassion during a challenging time and the staff at the Avalon Care Centre who have cared for Laurie over the years. Heidi Buchanan

BUCHANAN, Heidi L. (nee Grulke) Peacefully at Avalon Care Centre on Friday, January 16, 2015, in her 85th year. Beloved wife of Laurence (Laurie) of 60 years. Loving mother of Heidi Ann (Peter Bishop) and Duncan Fraser. Cherished grandma of Cameron Laurence and Amy Elizabeth. Predeceased by parents Gustav and Ottilie Grulke; sisters Lucy Moman, Elly Grulke, and Wally Grulke. Heidi will be greatly missed by other relatives and friends. Heidi was well known in her beloved community and served as president of the Orangeville Community Concert Association and was a longtime member of the IODE. Visitation will be held at the Dods & McNair Funeral Home & Chapel, 21 First Street., Orangeville on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at St. Mark's Anglican Church, 5 First Avenue, Orangeville on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at 11 a.m. Memorial donations to Heart & Stroke Foundation or Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family.
