Robert Bish
BISH, Robert Paul C.A. Died on July 27, 2010 at Lisaard House in Cambridge after a short illness, at the age of 79. Loved and loving husband of Mary with whom he shared 57 years of marriage. Will be fondly remembered by his children, Peter of Toronto, Tom and his wife Deborah Lasher of Metuchen N.J. and Jim of Toronto; proud grandfather of Hannah and Daniel Bish of Metuchen N.J. Also survived by brother, William Bish and his wife Ruth of Kitchener; sister, Rosemary Plummer of Waterloo, and eight nieces and nephews. Born June 9, 1931 and raised in Kitchener, he received his C.A. designation in 1954. He spent several years working for General Foods in Cambridge (Preston), ON, Kentville, N.S. and Battle Creek, MI and then returned to public accounting in 1965 in the Kitchener office of a predecessor firm KPMG, becoming a managing partner of the Cambridge office in 1969. After his early retirement in 1979 he began a second career teaching accounting at WLU School of Business and U of W School of Accountancy. Bob was a King's Scout (11th Kitchener), and the inaugural leader of the 26th Kitchener Cub Pack. He was an original member of Waterloo- Wellington CA Association, and served as president. He served as a director of Parkwood Manor Home for Seniors, and director and president of Interfaith Pastoral Counselling Centre. He was named a life director of United Way, having served that organization in many capacities. He was a director and treasurer of Labour Community Services, a director of K-W Counselling Services, and a director and treasurer of Third Age of K-W. Bob's lifelong interest in people and places led him down many paths. He and Mary travelled widely both locally and internationally over their many years as birders. They spent many happy years as Scottish Country Dancers. Bob was a true nature lover and spent many hours in all seasons exploring Ontario's geological features, rivers, waterfalls and forests both by himself, with his boys and with friends from his scouting days. Bob will be remembered by friends, family and associates for the values he quietly embodied. Above all, his life was characterized by love of his wife and family. Cremation has taken place; interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Waterloo. Buchanan, Gilbert Laurence (Laurie) Peacefully at Headwaters Health Care Centre on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at the age of 89. Beloved husband of the late Heidi Buchanan (2015). Dear father of Heidi Ann (Peter Bishop) and Duncan Fraser. Cherished grandfather of Cameron Laurence (Sara) and Amy Elizabeth. Great-grandfather of Noah Christopher Bishop. Laurie will also be greatly missed by other relatives and many friends. Bruce Gellatly, 84, died peacefully in Courtenay, British Columbia on February 2, 2016, surrounded by family. Bruce joins Audrey, his wife of 60 years, who passed away in 2014. He is survived by his children Barb, Mary, Sean Gellatly and Anne Armstrong; eight grandchildren; and three great- grandchildren. Bruce contributed significantly to Canada's university community. Bruce helped build the University of Waterloo from the ground up. Working from its inception in 1957 to 1983, Bruce provided financial management that enabled the university to pursue its vision and establish its reputation. He was awarded an honorary Doctor of Laws in 1984 in recognition of his achievements. Bruce joined the University of British Columbia (UBC) as Vice-President Administration and Finance in 1983. In a period of financial restraint, Bruce helped lead UBC from a provincial institution to a leading national research university. Bruce contributed to the community in many other ways. He was active in the Anglican Church, was Chair of the Kitchener Waterloo Philharmonic Choir and Chair of the Richmond Hospital Foundation. Bruce's devotion to serving the community was met only by his dedication to his family. Since retiring in 1996, Bruce provided unparalleled care and commitment to his ill wife, Audrey. Bruce was also a sportsman, joining the Old Timers Hockey League on trips to Europe and Japan in winter and working on his golf handicap in the summer. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Comox Valley Funeral Home, 1101 Ryan Road, Courtenay, British Columbia with a Reception to follow. Flowers gratefully declined. A donation may be made to a charity of your choice.

John Andrew Leckie passed away on January 6, 2021, in Natchez, Mississippi. Visitation for family and friends will be held at Laird Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, January 17, 2021, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. with masks and social distancing required.
Following the visitation, a private family service in the Laird Funeral Home Chapel will be conducted by Dr. Doug Broome, Pastor of First Baptist Church in Natchez, with interment thereafter at the Natchez City Cemetery.
The son of Mary Ann Scarlett Leckie and John Hugh Leckie, John Leckie was born May 4, 1931, in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. His early education was in Kitchener; but his high school years were spent in Hamilton, Ontario, where he graduated from Westdale High School. Upon graduation he attended McMaster University.
As a young child, John grew up during World War II with his father stationed overseas. Without his father present, his mother made sure John was involved in many positive activities. He spent summers working on his maternal grandfather’s farm, had a paper route, worked on a golf course, and was an active member of a local Hi-Y Club where he made many lifelong friends.
Not sure of what he wanted to do in life, John left McMaster University and joined the Royal Canadian Navy as a pilot. During flight training in Pensacola, Florida, he met his future wife, an elementary school teacher, Mary Jean Miller of Natchez; and they married on August 12, 1956, at First Baptist Church in Natchez. Later, they moved to Kingsville, Texas, and then on to Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, where he was stationed as a Navy pilot. Here, their first two children, Andree and John, were born; their third child, Charles, was born in Natchez.
In 1961, John Leckie and his family moved to Natchez where he went to work with his father-in-law, Coyne Miller. During this time, he completed his college education at the University of Southern Mississippi with a Bachelor of Science in History, a Master of Science in Guidance and Administration, and a Triple A Certification in Guidance and Administration.
John Leckie’s career in education spanned more than twenty-five years with the Natchez Public School District where he first taught history but spent the majority of his career as a guidance counselor and administrator. He was a highly regarded educator and never went out in public without a former student coming to visit with him.
As an active member and Deacon of First Baptist Church in Natchez, John Leckie taught a men’s Sunday School class for over twenty-five years and was an active member of many different committees. In addition, he was very involved in the local community as a member of the Trace City Kiwanis and later the Natchez Kiwanis Club, serving as president multiple times and secretary for many years. As a man very proud of his Scottish heritage, he avidly enjoyed his membership in the Natchez Scottish Heritage Society. He was also an active member of the Retiree Partnership and a volunteer driver transporting American Military Veterans to Jackson for medical appointments.
Spending time with his family, his church, and travel were some of his profound passions. With his wife, children, and later grandchildren, he made many road trips in his RV across the United States and Canada. One of his most treasured memories was his trip to Scotland with his three children to visit the land of his ancestors.
John Leckie was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Marilyn Leckie Groves, and brother-in-law, Norman Groves, of Burlington, Ontario; and his sister-in-law, Mary Lou Miller, of Natchez.
He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-four years, Mary Jean Miller Leckie, his three children Andree Leckie Gamberi (Joe), and John Miller Leckie (Lynn), all of Natchez; and Dr. Charles Edwin Leckie (Audrey) of Tupelo, Mississippi. His surviving grandchildren include Joseph (Joey) Robert Gamberi III (Ashley) and Jonathan Taylor Gamberi (Katy), all of Natchez; James (Jamey) Andrew Gamberi (Shellee) of Flowood, Mississippi; Joshua (Josh) Miller Gamberi (Garyn) of Mandeville, Louisiana; Charles Devon Leckie, Geneva Colleen Leckie, Scarlett Paige Leckie, and Mary-Esther Rose Leckie of Tupelo; and John Frederick (Ricky) Leckie of Natchez. His surviving great-grandchildren are Jon Taylor Gamberi and Adalyn Blake Gamberi of Natchez. Additional surviving family include brother-in-law, Dr. C. Connell Miller of Natchez and a number of nieces and nephews: Bob Groves (Kathy) of River Bourgeois, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia; Judy Groves Nice (Frank) and Peter John Groves (Linda), both of Hamilton, Ontario; Janet Groves Young (Gary) of Dundas, Ontario; Lacie Miller Gorder (Joe) of San Antonio, Texas; Cheryl Miller and David Miller of Houston, Texas; and Connell Miller III of Natchez.
Pallbearers will be his six grandsons, Joey Gamberi, Jamey Gamberi, Jonathan Gamberi, Josh Gamberi, Devon Leckie, and Ricky Leckie.
The John Leckie Family gives special thanks to his caregiver, Mrs. Jane Washington; to his family physician, Dr. Chuck Borum; and to the many dedicated healthcare workers who attended to him in his last years.

Robert Howard POWERPOWER, Robert Howard Robert Howard Power died peacefully at home on Tuesday, December 5, 2017. Husband to Barbara (Brown); predeceased by his sister Evelyn, father of Lauren (Jamie Hassard) and Rob (Ann Saunders), grandfather of Erin Hassard and Susan Chadwick. Bob's sharp wit, sense of humour and positive attitude endeared him to many and forged lifelong friendships, dating all the way back to his Y club pals in Kitchener, ON. His career in business management took him from Newfoundland to British Columbia before he and Barbara finally settled in Bracebridge. Bob was a warm and thoughtful man who will be greatly missed by all who knew him. We would like to offer a special thanks to the local caregivers who assisted and befriended him in his last years. A celebration of Bob's life will be held at the family home 2-4 p.m. on the afternoon of Friday, January 19, 2018. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Stephen Lewis Foundation (Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign) or Muskoka Parry Sound Sexual Assault Services. |

Martin RESZETNIK 1930 – 2015Martin passed away peacefully on May 26, 2015. He was the beloved husband of Tess (Wesolowski) for 53 years. Loving father of Marty (Vicky), Ann Marie, Edward (Ann), Michele (Steve) and adoring grandfather of Alexandra, Katharine, Rebecca, Nicholas, Grace, Ryan, Ainsley and Brandon. Martin was born in Kitchener, Ontario to John and Angela Reszetnik. He was predeceased by his three brothers, Casey, (Glenn) Julian, and Sigmund. On graduating from McGill University (1953), Martin joined the Engineering firm of M.S. Yolles & Associates where he worked for 20 years. He then went on to form Martin Reszetnik Engineering Ltd. Martin excelled in sports, especially baseball (played for the city of Kitchener) and coached his sons' baseball teams. He was a lifetime member of the Boulevard Club where he loved playing his badminton and enjoyed the camaraderie of his friends. He loved music, especially opera and spending time at his cottage on Georgian Bay. Visitation will take place before Mass on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at Our Lady of Peace Church, 3914 Bloor St. W. in Etobicoke from 10 to 11 a.m. The Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to Dr. Simone's Canadian Food for Children (canadianfoodforchildren.net)or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
